Church Of Santa Croce
Piazza di Santa Croce
The Church of Santa Croce is the last resting place of the most important citizens of Florence. Michelangelo is buried here, as is Rossini, Machiavelli and Galileo Galilei. The building also boasts great artistic wealth – from frescoes by Gaddi and Giotto and a relief by Donatello, to a memorial to Giovanni Battista Niccolini – said to have inspired the Statue of Liberty.
