Saint John Baptistery
Piazza del Duomo
The Florence Baptisery is octagonal in shape and stands across both the Piazza del Duomo and the Piazza di San Giovanni. It is one of the oldest buildings in the city, built between 1059 and 1128, and is a classic example of Florentine Romanesque architecture. The structure features three sets of bronze doors – the south doors designed by Andrea Pisano, and the north by Lorenzo Ghiberti.
