The New Market Loggia

Loggia del Mercato Nuovo also popularly known as the Loggia del Porcellino is located in the Piazza della Repubbica. Built in the 16th century, the loggia was originally used as a place for selling fine goods such as silk – nowadays leather goods and souvenirs are sold. Its focal point is the ‘fountain of the piglet’, by Pietro Tacca in the 16th century.
