Venetian warlord Bartolomeo Colleoni was known for his military prowess leading troops to war in northern Italy. Colleoni was imprisoned in Monza, where he died. The leader was known for his generosity and charitable works, a far cry from the activities of many soldiers of his time. Today, the Equestrian Monument to Bartolomeo Colleoni in Venice honors his life.
